Every media source has truth, but the real question is how much truth?

Do you think the media tells you the truth?
by free2beme ini am always amazed at how people i would consider, smart, believe the media so much.
they will say they have gone to college or have read information on topics, and then be swayed in their thinking by one news program.
do you trust the media?

If you claim a divine miracle in your life, you will be disfellowshipped!!!
by free2beme inone of the key things i have noticed since leaving the witnesses and interacting with other faiths, is that they often mention the word "miracle!
" in that they will claim that their god had performed some sort of miracle in their life that brought about something amazing.
it is not always christians who say this either, as many of my "pagan" friends and myself have had spirit driven moments that were something that could not be displaced as "chance.

I suppose the real problem here is that loyal Watchtower followers feel that there is nothing "divine" that happens outside of Gods organziation. If something is claimed to have happened it is either a lie or from the demons.
Just another example of how they only look to themselves as the answer and torch bearer for God.
Of course this isn't to say that people who claim divine intervention in their lives are crazy, becuase the usually are. -

Why does religion fail?
by cosmic ini'm not used to starting threads, but i ran across a web site the other day that set my mind churning.
the site was called "the atheists manifesto", and i think i heard about it from someone on this board.
but, anyway, it mentioned a couple of things that seemed compelling:.

My thoughts on this are kind of long, so bear with me.
Religion is human. Religion has evolved. Through the passages of time the earths religions have molded themselves into what they are today. 20th century christianity is completely differant than 15th century christianty. The Islam of yesterday is not nessacarily the Islam of today. Things change, differant movements form, other doctrines of a religion become more popular in one century and less popular in another. As society changes so does the viewpoints of the differant members. What was important to a Buddist living in the 12th century is totally differant than the modern Buddist living in shanghai with the modern world all around.
This isn't to say that EVERYTHING has changed, the past elements are allways there. I'm simply saying that these things do change, and mean differant things to differant people as time goes on.
Why did I bring that up?
Because religion is HUMAN, and HUMANS are allways changing. Does religion fail? I think is fails in the same degree that humans fail in general. Think about human governments, organizations, grassroots political movements. The list could go on forever. They are allways changing. All of these have failed in one way or another.
Failure I think is part of the human condition. We keep moving forward, then backwards, then forward a little more.
I also suppose it's what you look for religion to do. Solve all of your problem? Solve mankinds problems? People look to religion BECAUSE of the human condition. If the idea is that religion is holding us back, then I would go further and say thats it's not religion but the human condition itself.
I know, I know. I just typed a bunch of rubbish that dosn't gel togeather that great. It's the end of the day, what do you expect? -

How Do You Nullify A Baptism
by Diogenes indoes anybody know what the procedure is if you want to nullify your baptism?.
has anybody successfully nullified their baptism?.
i'd love to hear from you how you did it.. thanks,.
-

The idea of wanting to nullify your baptism means that you want those official labels lifted off of you that have been put there by the baptism. The only way is dissassociation.
I realize some out there want their baptism to be wiped away and all papers about them thrown in the garbage as if nothing ever happened at all. This is simply not an easy task, or one that more than likely can not be done. It's seems that there is a desire in some to change the past, which is impossible. What's done is done, look to the future. -

they are pushing aux. pioneering AGAIN this "memorial season"....so
by ?me? ini was thinking since we have a congo "goal" of 30 aux.
pioneers, do you think the elders or the service committee would now allow me to give it a shot?
(that is if if actually wanted to )... i am one of those 1-4 hour publishers (sometimes more; 10 hours last month because i did some rbc work, and if i the pioneers can count it, i will count it).

I don't see why not. The big question is, is it worth it?

What kills it? The same thing that kills it in ever other area of life. A great Oscar Wilde Quote:
"Consistency is the last refuge of the unimaginative."
When things become ordaniry, routine, and a task people loose interest in them. -
